Treble Damages
A vendor of medical care who willfully submits a false report or claim for reimbursement that the vendor knows is false and is paid from public funds can be sued by the state of Minnesota for civil damages, which include the vendor having to pay three (3) times the amount of the payment with costs and attorneys’ fees. The vendor may also be subject to liability based on other provisions of Minnesota law.
