Electronic Prescription Drug Program
In Minnesota, all providers, group purchasers, prescribers/pharmacists, and dispensers must establish and maintain an electronic prescription drug program by January 1, 2011. All legal transactions must be conducted by electronic means. Messages used to transmit prescriptions or prescription information must use a specific encrypted coding mandated by the law (HL7 or NCPDP SCRIPT Standard).
