Disclosure of Information
If an authorized person informs the insurance company that he or she believes that fraud has taken place, the insurer must release all relevant information to the authorized person. The insurance company must also notify the Division of Insurance Fraud Prevention upon reasonable belief that fraud has taken place. Any person with knowledge or reasonable belief that fraud has taken place may furnish relevant information to the Division of Insurance Fraud Prevention. Insurers or authorized persons, who release information according to this section may not be held liable for disclosing information. The Division of Insurance Fraud Prevention may establish a fund to reward those who provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of a person for insurance fraud.
