Filing and Disposition of Records
Patient records must be stored in a central control point area of the nurses’ stations. Patients’ medical records in nursing homes are confidential but must be made available to those responsible for the care of the patient. If a patient is transferred to another facility, the information relevant to the patient’s care must also be transferred.
