This will open in a new window
The Family Independence Agency has access to the parentage registry when enforcing child support obligations and may disclose such information as necessary to carry out its duty. When there is a compelling need for a child’s medical records to determine whether child abuse or neglect occurred, the department must give a Family Independence Agency caseworker access to the medical records within 14 days after receiving a written request from the caseworker. The identity of the child must be included in the medical records and other information obtained for child abuse/neglect purposes. Anyone disclosing information pursuant to this section in good faith is immune from liability.
