Anyone performing research and requesting information from the registry must submit a proposal to the scientific advisory panel, which is responsible for approving research proposals that need the release of registry data and information. Approved studies using identifiable information must sign an agreement to not publish such information. The agreement must also state that electronic files or hard copies of data must not be copied for retention and must be returned to the Department upon completion of the study. A prepublication copy of the study must be provided to the Department at least 15 days prior to publication.
