Any parent enrolling their child in kindergarten or first grade must provide the school with a certificate of hearing and vision screenings, unless exempt under Section 9311. Each year, every school must report to the department and local health departments a summary of all hearing and vision screenings for new kindergarten and first grade students. The records of testing and screening must be preserved by the department and must be available to all health agencies assisting in obtaining adequate health care treatment. Such testing and screening records must remain confidential under Section 2637.
