The department of community health must, upon receiving the death certificate of an individual under the age of 45, notify the local registrar office that holds the individual’s birth record of that individual’s death. The local registrar must subsequently record the individual’s death on their birth certificate. If the individual’s birth certificate is located in a different state, then the department of community health must notify the office that maintains vital records within that state.
