Organized programs to prevent disease, prolong life, and promote public health; duties of department
The Department of Community Health has the statutory duty to prevent disease and promote the public health. This duty includes preventing and controlling environmental health hazards, diseases, and other health problems. The department must carry out this duty by implementing prevention, promotion, and education programs; conducting investigations related to disease, morbidity, and mortality; and using vital and health statistics for research purposes.
