The department must keep all reported central registry child abuse and neglect information confidential. It may, however, be available to the state legislature, so long as it is discussed in a closed session and for purposes of the protection of Michigan children. Any individual who discloses or retains confidential information gained from a meeting held under this Section is guilty of a misdemeanor.
