The department must establish regulations organizing the screening of children in schools for scoliosis and other spinal disorders. Such regulations must determine the grades that will be annually screened, the reporting forms that will be used, and the procedures that will be used for the screenings. The screening regulations must be distributed to all local health departments and schools. A student may opt out of the screenings if their parents provide a written statement to the school stating the screening is against their religious beliefs.
