When the Department of Community Health receives a report from a clinical laboratory, it may investigate the accuracy of the report, the cause of the exposure, and any adverse health effects that may result. The Department has the power to request individual medical records when conducting this investigation. Any copies of medical records must not be copied by the Department and must be stored in a locked file cabinet. The Department may release all reports to other agencies, but such agencies must assure the Department they will abide by confidentiality requirements of R. 325.66.
