“Implementing individual preferences for sharing individually identifiable health information”
Health information organizations (HIOs) must implement technology that enables HIOs to comply with an individual’s preferences regarding the sharing of their individually identifiable health information. HIOs must comply with this provision within three years of its effective date. HB 2620 took effect on 7-20-2011. Health care providers must notify their patients when an HIO in which they participate has implemented the appropriate technology.
