Requires hospitals to complete and submit a medical assistance application and a request for a Medicaid eligibility determination within 31 days of admitting an indigent patient. Requires patients to cooperate with the Medicaid eligibility determination process. Considers the submission of the medical assistance application and Medicaid eligibility determination request as consent for the Department of Health and Welfare, providers, and hospitals to exchange information regarding the patient’s health and finances as necessary to assess their eligibility.
