Facilities “for the treatment of persons with psychiatric disabilities” must provide patients with “humane and dignified treatment” while respecting patients’ dignity and right to privacy. Facilities must treat patients pursuant to a “specialized treatment plan.” This plan must contain a discharge plan that (1) gives the patient “reasonable notice” of their forthcoming discharge; (2) allow for the patient to actively assist in their discharge; and (3) addresses the patient’s needs for post-discharge care.
