Hospital-Acquired Infection Reporting
Specifies the hospital-acquired infection data that health facilities must collect (e.g., orthopedic surgical site infections, cardiac surgical site infections, etc.). Requires health facilities to develop policies that ensure the prompt reporting of hospital-acquired infections by physicians that diagnosis them during a follow-up appointment. Requires health facilities to submit data to the National Health Safety Network (“NHSN”) and to authorize the Department of Public Health and Environment to access their data maintained in the NHSN database. Permits the Department to revoke a health facilities license, deny licensure, or impose civil penalties for noncompliance.
