“Health care providers; duty to maintain medical records”
Arizona clarifies that a health care provider’s participation in a health information organization (HIO) does not impact their obligation to maintain medical records—as required by 12-2291 et seq.—, the content of medical records, or their ability to use, disclose, or exchange medical records or medical record information. Participation in an HIO may, however, impact content, use, and disclosure if the medical records are held by an HIO.
