“Disciplinary guidelines under the Department of Health regulations”
The Board of Podiatric Medicine may discipline and fine podiatrists for a variety of grounds including:
- Filing a false report or failing to file a report required by state or federal law;
- Paying or receiving any commission, bonus, kickback, rebate or engaging in any split-fee arrangement with a health care provider for patient referrals;
- Making misleading representations in the practice of podiatric medicine;
- Failing to keep written medical records;
- Being unable to practice podiatric medicine with reasonable skill and safety by because of illness or substance use;
- Medical malpractice;
- Performing experimental procedures without first obtaining written informed consent from a patient; and
- Engaging in sexual activity with a patient.
