The director of health will use available grants received from the federal government and other sources to establish a population-based pregnancy loss registry to monitor the incidence of pregnancy losses in Ohio occurring within the first twenty weeks of pregnancy by any means other than purposeful termination. The registry will be used to conduct appropriate epidemiological studies to determine any causal relations between pregnancy losses and occupational, nutritional, environmental, genetic, or infectious conditions, and to develop appropriate preventative measures.
