When reporting each birth and fetal death, physicians must state on the appropriate certificate whether the mother was tested for syphilis and gonorrhea, and the approximate date when the specimens were taken for testing. If no tests were made, the physician must state the reasons why the tests were not made. The results of the tests may not be stated on the birth or fetal death certificate.
