Dental Services,
Requires nursing facilities to provide a dental examination to new residents and to document a resident’s refusal of the exam in the resident’s health information record. Permits facilities to accept documentation that the resident received a dental exam within the six months prior to their admission instead of having the resident undergo another exam. Assigns responsibility for dental records to the dentist or dental hygienist that performs the services. Requires these records to include dental exam results and a treatment plan or statement that resident is electing not to comply with the treatment plan. Clarifies that facilities are not responsible for the costs of dental services, but requires facilities to assist residents in obtaining public benefits.
