All documents, materials or information utilized solely for investigation undertaken by the state board of medicine or the state board of osteopathic medicine concerning a complaint filed with such boards will be confidential and privileged. This confidentiality provision does not extend to letters to a licensee that disclose the final outcome of an investigation or to final adjudications or orders issued by the licensure board. Unless otherwise prohibited, documents, materials, or information pertaining to the status of a license, permit or certification issued or prepared by a licensing board or relating to a pubic disciplinary proceeding or hearing may be disclosed.
