All hospitals must provide care to patients without regard to race, color, national origin, sex or sexual preference or religion. All patients must be assigned to rooms, floors and sections in accordance with their medical needs, and may not be asked whether they are willing or desire to share a room with a person of another race or religion. Transfer of patients from rooms may only be made for valid medical reasons.
Employees must be assigned to patient services without regard to the race, color, national origin, or religion of either the patient or employee.
The hospital must report immediately to the Compliance Office of the Department all known instances of post-hospital discriminatory practices experienced by referred patients.
