The Department of Managed Care must ensure that health plans provide enrollees access to language assistance programs. Health service plans are required to assess the language needs of their enrollees and provide translation and interpretation of medical services. Based on the number of enrollees, health service plans are required to translate key documents into the top languages of their consumers. Reports on compliance to state law of language assistance to plan enrollees will be reported to the Legislature biennially.
