Access to Database Information,
Classifies information and records submitted to and maintained by the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) as confidential and privileged. Identifies the persons and entities that may access PMP and specifies the bounds of their access. Permits patients to request information regarding their prescriptions. Permits the PMP administrator to disclose statistical data for research, policy, or educational purposes so long as they remove all identifying information. Authorizes the PMP board to enter into contracts with HIT vendors as a means of integrating the PMP into electronic health records, health information exchanges, and electronic pharmacy systems.
