The insurance carrier must have a process to accept grievances by phone, in person, by mail, or electronic means. All oral grievances must be put in writing by the insurance carrier with the opportunity to review the written statement by the insured.
Any grievance that is filed that requires a patient’s medical records must include the signature of the insured or his representative, authorizing the release of medical information.
