Requires ambulatory surgical facilities to maintain a patient’s medical record for at least seven years following the patient’s date of discharge or, for minor patients, seven years following their 18th birthday. Requires facilities that close to store records for at least five years and to provide notice prior to destroying records both legally and through an advertisement in a widely circulated newspaper.
