Patients' Bill of Rights

These requirements apply to a licensed health facility, building, or residence, but do not apply to health care provider's offices, community health clinics, or private homes where home care services are provided.

Medical information contained in the medical records at any health facility is the property of the patient, who is entitled to a copy of such records upon request. A facility may charge a fee for such copies of up to $15 for the first thirty pages or $.50 per page, whichever is greater. Copies of filmed records such as radiograms, x-rays, and sonograms must be copied at a reasonable cost.
