The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) has released a draft of its Interoperability Roadmap. The roadmap focuses on the following distinct building blocks:
1. Clinical, Cultural, Business and Regulatory Environments;
2. Governance;
3. Certification;
4. Privacy and Security.
The draft roadmap also emphasizes the importance of consistent standards for interoperability across federal and state governments and the private sector. ONC also recognizes the importance of collaboration and broad stakeholder input to achieve interoperability.
