Health Information Technology in Wisconsin
Wisconsin law requires ambulatory surgery centers to submit claims data, clinical data, and patient information, including race and ethnicity electronically to the Department of Health Services.1 Health providers may receive credits to facilitate the use of electronic medical records if they obtain certification from the department of revenue.2 Wisconsin will certify nonprofit corporations as eligible for federal funding if they agree carry out certain functions while implementing a statewide health information exchange and meet certain organization requirements.3
