Equity and Disparities in New Mexico

In order to reduce and eliminate disparities in access to health care, New Mexico has established a Medical Insurance pool that provides access to coverage for all residents who have been denied insurance or are considered “uninsurable.”1  Additionally, the New Mexico Protection Act requires that all insurance companies adopt regulations that address linguistic and cultural diversity of its enrollees.2

The law also requires that residents in long term care facilities have the right to participate with social, cultural or religious groups freely and be free from discrimination.3
