Wis. Stat. Ann. § 252.07 - Tuberculosis
This will open in a new window
This law details the public health reporting requirements for instances of tuberculosis. The law requires that any laboratory that receives a specimen that tests positive for tuberculosis report the case to the local health officer and to DHS. The law requires that the local health officer then investigate and enforce any necessary orders, and if the person does not voluntarily comply with treatments orders, the officer may order a medical evaluation or home isolation of such person. The law states that DHS may order the confinement of such a person to a facility for up to 72 hours as long as certain specific requirements are met. Any further confinement requires a court order.
