Wis. Stat. Ann. § 153.78 - Penalties

This law states the penalties for violating the confidentiality requirements for and limits on disclosure of patient health care information as set forth in Wis. Stat. Ann. § 153.50 and § 153.45.  The law states that a person who intentionally violates the above laws may be fined up to $15,000 and/or imprisoned for up to a year.  For all other violations of the Subchapter I of Chapter 153 governing Information Collection and Dissemination of Health Care Information, the violator may be fined up to $100 for each violation.  The law further sets forth certain requirements for determining how many violations were made.
