Home health — Reimbursement — Telemedicine
Nurses that utilize telemedicine to deliver home health services through the medical assistance program do not need to have in-person contact with the patient.
The department of social and health services or the Washington state health care authority must develop rules and rates for reimbursing telemedicine services. These rules must prohibit reimbursement for leasing or purchasing telemedicine equipment.
Providers should not use telemedicine in situations where visits from registered nurses are necessary.
