Theft of medical records or medical information - penalty - definitions
Classifies the theft of a medical record or medical information as a class 6 felony. Defines this crime as knowingly obtaining a medical record or medical information with the intent to appropriate the information, stealing a medical record or medical information, disclosing a medical record or medical information to an unauthorized person, or copying or facilitating the copying of medical record or medical information. Clarifies that this section does not apply to HIPAA regulated entities or persons that access medical information from the national instant criminal background check system.
