Physician fees for information
A physician may charge a reasonable fee for copying a requested medical or billing record and may withhold the record until the fee is paid, unless there is a medical emergency. A physician may not charge a fee for copying a record that is requested for use in supporting an application for benefits or assistance related to a patient's disability, or to appeal a denial of such benefits.
