The state of Tennessee has established a Medicaid Fraud Control Unit that is authorized to investigate violations of laws regarding provider or vendor fraud and abuse relating to administration of the Medicaid program, the Medicare program and abuse and neglect in healthcare facilities receiving payments from the Medicaid program. The Unit must submit a summary of its activities annually to the Governor and General Assembly.
