Requirements for Health Maintenance Organizations, Preferred Provider Organizations, and Insurers
Unless otherwise permitted by law, the Hospital Cooperation Act of 1993 shall not be understood to grant any hospital or group of hospital the authority to operate as a health maintenance organization, preferred provider organization, or insurer without first obtaining the appropriate license from the department of commerce and insurance. It also does not grant any hospital the authority to negotiate terms, prices, or reimbursement rates with insurers, health maintenance organizations, or preferred provider organizations unless otherwise prohibited under federal or state antitrust law.
