The party requesting medical records from a provider is responsible for the reasonable costs of copying mailing them. The fees cannot exceed $20 for medical records 5 pages or less, and $.50/page for each additional page, plus the actual cost of mailing. Third parties that provide copies of medical records are subject to the same requirements. Providers may not charge fees when the records are requested by the Department of Health.
