Laboratory reports of the blood samples required to be taken from pregnant women must be transmitted to the health care provider. A copy of the report must be sent to the local health department if it indicates a reactive syphilis test and/or a negative rubella immunity test.
The information sent to the local health department is confidential and not open to public investigation, but may be produced as evidence at a trial or on order of a judge, and in a compilation of aggregate figures and reports if the identifying information of patients is not disclosed.
