Required Reporting of Communicable Diseases
If a physician, surgeon, or practitioner knows or suspects that a person is infected or even suspected of having any communicable disease, they shall immediately notify the health authorities of the town or county in which the diseased person is located. This does not include venereal diseases. In the event that the diseased person dies, the physician, surgeon, or practitioner shall also notify anyone receiving the body of any communicable, contagious, or infectious diseases in order for them to take proper precautions with handling, preparing, and disposing of the body. This does include reporting instances of acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS).
