Before destroying a hospital record, the hospital must make an abstract of any pertinent data as is necessary or legally required. A hospital may transfer and record on photographic film original files and records of the hospital dealing with case history, physical examination and daily hospital records of individual patients for the purposes of medical research and professional education, or administrative convenience.
