Statewide birth defects information system – Ohio Rev. Code Ann. § 3705.30

A statewide birth defects information system has been established to collect information concerning congenital anomalies, stillbirths, and abnormal conditions reported by physicians, hospitals, and freestanding birthing centers for patients under age five. On request, providers and facilities must provide access to relevant medical records to the director of health or authorized employees of the department of health.  The director may review vital statistics records for purposes of expanding the list of anomalies and conditions to be reported on birth certificates.
