State Emergency Medical Services Activities
This law requires that the Department of Health Services (DHS) prepare a state emergency medical services plan, which is to be updated and kept current. The emergency medical services board is responsible for determining the priority of required changes in the emergency medical services system. The board is required to recommend qualifications for the state supervisor of emergency medical services. DHS must consult with the board before making any rules related to the funding of these emergency medical services.
The law designates DHS as the lead state agency for emergency medical services, and sets forth a list of duties for DHS, including but not limited to implementation of measures to achieve the goals set in the plan, provision of quality assurance with respect to the emergency medical services, provision of technical assistance to first responders, review of board recommendations, investigation of complaints received about first responders.
