“Duties of commissioner under the state and its government law”
The commissioner of health and human services must:
- Cooperate with the attorney general to investigate instances of possible fraud or abuse in the Medicaid program;
- Refer to the attorney general to prosecute all cases of fraud and abuse in the Medicaid program; and
- Suspend or terminate any providers’ participation in the Medicaid program if they are convicted of fraud or abuse.
