Hospitals must have a medical, dental, and podiatric malpractice program for the purpose of identifying and preventing malpractice. These malpractice programs must (1) have a quality assurance committee that will review the quality of services; (2) implement procedures for promptly resolving patient grievances; and (3) collect and maintain information regarding negative health outcomes, grievances, settlement and liability costs, and the costs of patient safety initiatives.
