Legislative findings and declarations; reports to applicable state agencies concerning settlement, arbitration award, or civil award; failure to comply; required information; licensees self-insured by municipal agencies
Malpractice insurers, physicians, or agencies that self-insure physicians are required to report to the California Medical Board a settlement or arbitration award over $30,000 based on the physician’s negligence or a settlement or arbitration award over $30,000 based on the physician’s rendering of unauthorized professional conduct and a party to the settlement is a corporation or group practice. The law authorizes a penalty for failure to report the settlement or award in a timely manner.
