Reporting requirements for the health care database - R.I. Gen. Laws Ann. § 23-17.17-10
This will open in a new window
Rhode Island requires “Insurers, health care providers, health care facilities, and government agencies” to report information specified by the director of the department of health as necessary to establish a health care database. Reported information may include health insurance claims and enrollment information, hospital finance information, and information regarding costs, quality, and utilization. Reports may be made in any form certified by the Certification Commission for Health Care Information Technology (CCHIT).
Information held on the health care database may not contain “direct personal identifiers” (e.g. name, e-mail address, social security numbers). The director must remove such information if reported.
