All intermediate care facilities must conduct on-going, comprehensive self-assessments to ensure quality services. Such an assessment must contain:
- The condition of clients and all services rendered;
- The completeness of client records;
- The administration of the facility; and
- The policies and procedures of the facility.
When the assessment alerts the facility to any problems, the facility must act as soon as possible to avoid any risks to clients by taking corrective steps, which may include:
- Changes in policies and procedures;
- Staffing changes;
- Additional education for staff; and
- Changes in equipment.
