Powers and duties of executive director - newborn screening programs - genetic counseling and education programs - rules
Grants the Executive Director of the Department of Public Health and Environment the authority to create newborn screening programs and genetic counseling and education programs. Classifies information collected pursuant to these programs as confidential and prohibits disclosure unless the information is statistical and lacks the newborn’s name or the newborn’s parents or guardians consent to the disclosure. Clarifies that the Department may use information for follow up services with the newborn’s parents or guardians and health care providers.
